Description

Exploring the intricacies of regifting, debating the supremacy of inventions like the telephone, automobile, and Internet, and delving into the potential elimination of currency in favor of debit cards and apps are just a few of the thought-provoking topics that participants may engage with in 'The Art of Debate Camp - Taking it Up a Level.' This program, building upon the success of the Summer 2023 Art of Debate Camp and the 2023-2024 Enrichment Debate Clusters, offers scholars the opportunity to delve into more advanced subjects.

Participants will not only select in-depth topics beyond the scope of beginner debates, but will also be introduced to critical skills such as avoiding logical fallacies including Snob Appeal, Straw Man Fallacy, and Is-Ought Fallacy. The program emphasizes honing research skills, empowering scholars to find valid evidence to support their positions.

Continuing the tradition, scholars will actively participate in debates, with ESA staff and community members serving as judges. This hands-on experience allows scholars to apply their acquired skills in a real-world setting, fostering a deeper understanding of effective argumentation and communication.
